Smasher Presents Set the Record Straight

A 9 track alternative rap/hip-hop ep (32m 51s) — released August 13th 2012 on Dubz Recordings

After more than a year in the making, the 'Set The Record Straight' E.P is here. Coming out of east London, UK based producer 'Smasher' has compiled an E.P featuring an impressive 20 artists from the UK, including chart topping stars Wretch 32, Wiley and Maverick Sabre. Combining hugely varied influences from hip-hop, grime, drum and bass and even classical music, the 'Set The Record Straight E.P' is a truly inspiring collection of songs from one of the UK's most talented producers. From the conception of the E.P, Smasher new he wanted to demonstrate his passion for many different musical genres. As a result, his background in UK garage and grime are complemented by a healthy dose of hip-hop. Long time collaborator Aaron Greenwood co produced and arranged much of the project and used his performance background to secure musicians to play on many of the tracks. The first single, 'No Sleep', (featuring Wretch 32 and Maverick Sabre) utilises guitar, bass and drums, whilst up and coming rappers 'Dot Rotten' and 'Sincere' are accompanied by violin and cello on the epic opener, 'Big Picture'. By incorporating live instrumentation on 7 of the 9 tracks, 'Set The Record Straight' is pushing the boundaries of what to expect from UK producers.
